Accuri Cytometers™ is a fresh, focused company dedicated to creating powerful cytometers
that perform serious research with graceful simplicity. Our
first product, the C6 Flow Cytometer, embodies our philosophy: to provide affordable,
powerful instruments that are easy to operate and inexpensive to
support.
A simple design for complex research.
Our engineers had a daunting task-build a cytometer that is compact, simple
to operate, easy to afford, and matches the performance of the best selling
analytical flow cytometers. That meant including both blue and red lasers,
four color detectors and both forward and side scatter detectors. But they
pulled it off by challenging all the assumptions about how to build a cytometer
and incorporating the most advanced electronics and optics available.
The result of their effort is the C6 Flow Cytometer: a full feature analytical
instrument that offers an affordable, graceful and compact solution for cell
analysis. It even cleans itself when you turn it off!

6 Decade dynamic range: The
C6 Flow Cytometer has state-of-the-art electronics that make it possible to simultaneously
collect 16 million channels of digital data, or 6 full decades.
This unparalleled dynamic range obviates the need for adjustable
gain settings on the detectors. No gain settings mean it is possible
to collect data quickly and analyze later without concern over
lost data due to improper gain settings.
Flexible detector assignment: The C6 Flow Cytometer employs
a novel optical design that includes co-linear, temporally spaced
lasers. The detectors are all focused on the same spot,
but they sample data only when the desired laser combination is
exciting the sample. This arrangement makes it possible to assign
any of the 4 fluorescent detectors to read from either of the lasers.
Combined with easy-to-swap optical filters, the C6 Flow Cytometer is among the
most flexible analytical cytometers ever produced.
Fluidics control: The fluidics system of the
C6 Flow Cytometer is an entirely new approach that makes it possible for the user
to control both the speed of the sample uptake and the diameter
of the core stream. This allows the user to "dial in" the
optimal core size for their sample-large for mammalian cells, small
for yeast, and very small for bacteria.
Absolute counts: Because the C6 Flow Cytometer fluidics system
actually meters the sample fluid uptake it is simple to obtain
absolute counts, or sample concentration. In fact CFlow automatically
calculates the events per microliter for every run!
Auto cleaning: The C6 Flow Cytometer is programmed
for automatic decontamination and cleaning of the fluidics system.
Pressing the power button to turn off the instrument triggers the
C6 Flow Cytometer to automatically run Decontamination and Cleaning fluids through
the fluidics lines. The Cleaning fluid will remain in the fluidics
lines until the instrument is turned on again by pressing the power
button. When powered on, the C6 Flow Cytometer will automatically flush the fluidics
lines with sheath fluid prior to reporting that it is ready for
a sample.
Use any sample tube: The C6 Flow Cytometer does not use a pressurized
fluidics system, so it is very tolerant of the type and brand of
sample tube used. The C6 Flow Cytometer can accommodate several types of tubes,
including any brand of 12x75mm tubes and most microcentrifuge tubes
(with cap removed).
Fluid tank sensors: The C6 Flow Cytometer has 4 fluid tanks:
Sheath, Waste, Cleaner and Decontamination. Each of these tanks
may be equipped with durable sensors that automatically alert users
when the tanks need serviced.
Compact size: The C6 Flow Cytometer System is designed
to fit easily into any lab. The cytometer is a bench top instrument
that requires less space than a small microwave (17.3"W
x 16.3"D). At less than 30 pounds it is easy to reposition as needs
change. No other cytometer packs so much analytical power in so
small a package.
Low power usage: The C6 Flow Cytometer operates on
a low power, universal power supply (100-240V, 50-60Hz). There
are no special electrical requirements for installation, making
it easy to place the C6 Flow Cytometer wherever it is needed.
